Where to Eat : Kennebunkport, ME

All Day Breakfast

KENNEBUNK, ME

OK first of all - technically this little restaurant is in Kennebunk, right across the bridge from the Dock Square area of Kennebunkport, but this area of the 2 towns kind of blurs together since the shops and restaurants that attract so many tourists scatter across the bridge from K'Port and up the other side into Lower Village Kennebunk.

Find It: Super easy to find, with its pretty little sign perched along one of the main roads leading into the shopping area of town.

Park: Although parking can be really dicey in a lot of places around this area during the summer, it's a breeze here in the large attached parking lot.

Crowds: We tried it out for our first time a few weeks ago, early in the Spring, when it wasn't a problem to wander in and easily get a table. Rumor has it that this place gets really packed in the summer tourist months, so I'm glad we made it in before the crowds.

Eat:
 I had: Eggs Benedict with home fries

Emma had: crepes with strawberry sauce & whipped cream

Aidan had: chocolate chip pancakes

Overall, really yummy food. Nothing fancy that's going to change your world, just reliably good breakfast food, which can be surprisingly difficult to find.

Atmosphere: Casual & laid-back. Great service and friendly staff.

Would we go back?: Yep. But probably not in the busy season. We try to avoid super long lines and crowds :)

I'm a big dreamer when it comes to traveling. I think it started when I was about 13, with the first poster of London (Big Ben to be exact) on my wall. After that I moved on to posters of Egypt, Sri Lanka, Machu Picchu, Neuschwanstein...

Lately I've been busy pinning lots of beautiful places I want to see someday. I have a Pinterest board I call Go: Travel Aspirations, and I've had such a great time finding gorgeous images of gorgeous places to add to my collection.

Here are a few places at the top of my travel list these days:

Ireland

England

Iceland

Machu Picchu

Egypt

Neuschwanstein
and of course, Hawaii. Doesn't matter how many times I visit Hawaii it's natural beauty will always have me wishing to return.

Peaks Island, Maine: A Day Trip

Last week we spent a day on Peaks Island.

We took a short ferry ride from Portland,

then rented bikes

and rode them around the island

stopping a lot to take in the views and click some pictures.

We got off our bikes to explore Battery Steele, 

a World War II military fortification built on Peaks Island

to protect Portland harbor.

Around the battery we got stuck in the mud 

and Rob had to carry the girls' bikes across a large pool of water.

I helped by snapping a picture of it ;)

We rewarded ourselves with ice cream cones 

and a short rest on the beach while we waited for the ferry to take us back across the harbor. 

Waiting

I got to spend a few days in Orlando with my family this week. Thanks to Tropical Storm Debbie, we spent a lot of time indoors waiting for the rain to stop (or wishing it would stop), but I was glad that I got to join Rob and the girls for a few days of their week-long trip. On our last evening the weather cleared off and I snapped a few photos at Universal.

 Anyone else besides me feel like you spend nearly the entire day waiting when you're at those big Orlando theme parks?? Here's Aidan patiently waiting for her sister who is on a roller coaster. (Roller coasters aren't Aidan's thing.)

The Salty Lobster, Milkshakes & LL Bean

Emma and I took a quick road trip up to Freeport yesterday evening to visit The Salty Lobster, a new shop that's carrying some of my jewelry. They had a little opening reception, so we decided to go check it out. They are also featuring a ton of fabulous artwork by my friend and gallery neighbor Holly Ross at Fish House Designs! That's her sign and her adorable little fish leading the way down the stairs.

I thought they did a great job displaying my jewelry too.

After stopping by The Salty Lobster we decided to have a bite to eat down the street at Johnny Rockets. Here we are goofing around while waiting for our food to arrive :)

Chocolate milkshakes. Yum!

Of course, we couldn't leave Freeport without a quick stop at LL Bean. 

 That's one big backpack.

Good night Freeport. Heading home.
